Elizabeth Perrill, NCMA consulting curator for African Art
Smithfield, N.C. This lecture compares an ancient work in the NCMA’s African collection, the Nok culture terracotta, with the contemporary ceramic work of Kenyan-born Magdalene Odundo. Dr. Perrill discusses the differences in the artists’ techniques and gives an overview of techniques in her area of specialization, South African ceramics.
