Bring the family for some four-wheel fun! On four Saturdays during Porsche by Design, the Museum presents juried car shows along Blue Ridge Road. Enjoy classic, curvaceous, creative, and just-plain-cool cars, along with music, food trucks with breakfast and snacks for sale, a kids play zone, and health screenings by UNC-REX. Then head into the Museum to see the exhibition and have lunch in the Porsche Biergarten. For more information contact Robert Mlodzik at (919) 664-6743 or Robert.Mlodzik@ncdcr.gov.
American Cars and Hot Rods Meetup
Saturday, November 9
call for entries
The Swang Brothers play American music from the ’50s and ’60s, creating a heady mix of traditional country, rockabilly pop, and blues. The three-piece outfit of thumping upright bass, driving acoustic guitar, and twanging electric guitar covers Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Conway Twitty, George Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, Chet Atkins, and many others while mixing in some original tunes. The band can turn on a dime, playing an all-out rockabilly rave-up one moment, then downshifting into a country ballad the next, followed by a burning instrumental number.
If you would like to display your Porsche, European, American, or Art car but not be part of the juried shows, there will be a limited number of spaces available first come, first served. Vehicles must arrive by 8 am, and the vehicle must stay in place for the entire Meetup event (8:30 am–1 pm).
Porsche by Design: Seducing Speed and the Porsche Biergarten will open at 9 am, an hour early, on Meetup days.
