Lecture: An Anthology of Flowers

Pinehurst, N.C. Drawing from the word’s Greek origins—anthologia, literally “flower gathering”—this lecture focuses on the splendid floral still-life paintings in Still-Life Masterpieces: A Visual Feast from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. NCMA Director of Education Sandy Rusak previews selected works ranging from bountiful 17th-century Italian masterworks to the heady bouquets of the impressionists. Renoir and American greats such as Georgia O’Keeffe and Martin Johnson Heade are just a few of the outstanding artists featured in Rusak’s talk.
This lecture is sponsored by the North Carolina Museum of Art, Arts Council of Moore County, Sandhills Council of Garden Clubs, Sandhills Horticultural Society, and Weymouth Center for the Arts and Humanities.
