Dr. Peter Lacovara, Senior Curator of Ancient Egyptian, Nubian, and Near Eastern Art, Michael C. Carlos Museum, Emory University

Pierre Montet’s discovery of the hidden tombs of King Psusennes and other members of the royal families of the 21st and 22nd dynasties was the richest archaeological find in Egypt after the tomb of Tutankhamen and inspired Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Yet despite its importance, this discovery is not well known. This lecture details the spectacular finds of gold, silver, and jewels and the secrets of their creation and burial.
