Marc Moskovitz, cello; Marjorie Bagley, violin; Debra Ayers, piano

The Montage Music Society is a collective of top-flight classical musicians who perform in various configurations depending upon the project. The organization was formed in Boston and is connected to North Carolina by way of cellist Marc Moskovitz, a Tar Heel native and Durham resident, and Marjorie Bagley of Greensboro.

The Montage Music Society has gained special notice for its ambitious and innovative program that features music inspired by specific masterpiece paintings. It includes works by award-winning contemporary composers Stephen Paulus and Matthew Harris (composer of Starry Night: Seven Paintings for Violin, Cello, and Piano), plus music by the great African American composer William Grant Still. The compositions refer to pictures by Van Gogh, Degas, Picasso, Brueghel, Dali, and other giants, and images of the paintings will be projected onscreen during the concert.

Buy tickets online, by calling (919) 715-5923, or in person at the NCMA Box Office.

Docent-led tours of featured works of art are offered at 1:45 pm. Call (919) 664-6785 or e-mail for tour reservations and details.
