Featured in the Museum’s 30 Americans exhibition, Purvis Young, a self taught artist, is the focus of this documentary. The hour-long film explores Young’s infatuation with of his community of Overtown, located in Miami, Florida. It charts the revolutionary makeover of his neighborhood into an outdoor gallery for his energetic works. The film will be introduced by George Holt, director of performing arts and films at the NCMA.
