Students view videos in the exhibition Defying Gravity to see how contemporary artists capture the effects of flying. Participants create their own illusions of flying through drawings of airborne characters in moving picture flip books.

Meredith College faculty and students collaborate on a one-hour performance incorporating video, dance, music and narration honoring the late artist Michael Richards, whose powerful sculpture Tar Baby vs. St. Sebastian is in Defying Gravity.

Guided Tours
Book your guided tour early. Docent-led guided tours are offered for groups of 10 or more, Wednesday through Friday, by contacting the Museum’s tour coordinator at (919) 839-6262, ext. 2144, three weeks in advance. Guided tours for school groups are free with reservations four weeks in advance. Self-guided school groups are free with reservations two weeks in advance.

Tea-Time Tours for Seniors

The NCMA is pleased to offer Tea-Time Tours to all interested seniors the first Wednesday of each month. The program includes a docent-led tour of the galleries followed by light refreshments in the Education Lobby with informal discussion of the Museum and its collection. Space is limited. Defying Gravity Senior Tours Wednesday, February 11
Enjoy a free, docent-led tour of Defying Gravity with the purchase of a senior ticket ($6). Tours begin at 11 A.M. Reservations must be made through the Museum Box Office one week in advance by calling (919) 715-5923.
First Flight Events in the Triangle and Beyond
