The renovated East Building features multiple galleries for smaller exhibitions as well as larger galleries for blockbuster exhibitions. Some recent special exhibitions include American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell; Monet in Normandy, Landscapes in the Age of Impressionism; and Matisse, Picasso, and the School of Paris.
The NCMA has a comprehensive menu of family- and education-focused programming that encourages both parent-child interaction and student exploration of works of art using a variety of formats.
Every summer, the Joseph M. Bryan, Jr., Theater in the Museum Park hosts a variety of performing artists and movies. Awarded a 2008 Metro Bravo award for Best Outdoor Concert Venue in the Triangle by Metro Magazine, the Museum Park Theater seats 3,000 people and welcomes over 27,000 visitors each summer.
