The North Carolina Museum of Art

Teens

Ever need a little motivation to be creative? Find your inspiration to think, aspire, and create through the North Carolina Museum of Art’s teen programs.

Online Art Courses

Students from Asheville to Wilmington can connect with the Museum and teens across the state who share your interests. We offer online courses in Art of Fashion, Art of Game Design, and other topics through the North Carolina Virtual Public School. Visit North Carolina Virtual Public School for descriptions.

Teen Arts Council

High school students from around the region meet monthly to build leadership skills, go behind the scenes of the Museum, connect with other teens, and help plan Art Scene, the annual spring teen event.

Teens Inspired by Stella
Through April 28
East Building, North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation Gallery

With the debut of the NCMA’s Art of Fashion high school online course, the Museum partnered with Durham-based fabric company Spoonflower for its first teen fabric design contest. Teens found inspiration in Frank Stella’s Protractor series of paintings, which use bright colors and interlocking circles. One example, Raqqa II, is on view in West Building.
