DVD screening of Le Mans, 7 pm, Museum Auditorium
Rock out at the NCMA for a night of fast cars, slick design (and hair), hip music from the Straight 8s, and glimpses of the quintessential auto racing film Le Mans, starring Steve McQueen, whose 1958 Porsche Type 356A Speedster 1600 Super is featured in the Porsche by Design exhibition.
A DVD screening of the movie begins at 7 pm in the Museum Auditorium. It will also be projected on the wall during the party, but without sound.
The Straight 8s write, record, and perform music that resonates with listeners drawn to the raw energy of traditional rockabilly music. While the band has earned a solid reputation for its live shows, it is the creative process that drives founding member Robert Striegler. Other band members past and present include Mike Pratt, Matt Busch, Bernie Fox, Pat McGraw, Shawn “Lucky” Elbel, Daniel Mebane, and Mark Murphy. Each of these musicians has contributed to the band’s growth and imprinted a strand of their musical DNA on the band’s sound.
Cash bar on Level B. Local beers on tap and full menu in the Porsche Biergarten on Level C.
