Friday Night Sound Bites: The Impressionist Portrait

Friday, July 19 | 7:00 pm
Free. No reservations necessary. Meet at West Building Information Desk.

Whether featuring family members, friends, patrons, or simply a lingering glimpse of passers-by, impressionist painters capture faces and expression in the fleeting light and atmosphere caught by their brushstrokes.

Join a Museum docent to look at 1 or 2 works on loan from the Chrysler Museum. Explore the conversations and connections between these visitors and the NCMA’s own works in the European galleries.

Pierre-Auguste Renoir, The Daughters of Durand-Ruel, 1882, oil on canvas, 32 x 25 3/4 in., Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, Va., Gift of Walter P. Chrysler Jr., in memory of Thelma Chrysler Foy, 71.518
